There are people I have met who I instantly knew I was destined to meet. People I knew would have a lasting impact on my life. One of those friends is Shirlene. I met Shirlene in St. Louis when we both interviewed for the Bachelors/MD program at Washington University in St. Louis. Who knew that a weekend of laughter and shared interest would result in a friendship maintained nine years later.

This morning, Shirlene texted me that she was going to include me in one of her upcoming comics. Did I mention that she’s the genius behind ShirlyWhirl, M.D.
