I know that many if not most premedical students are offended if you ask whether ze watches Grey’s Anatomy. I am not among them. I love Grey’s Anatomy not because of the beautiful actors and actresses. Not because of the pseudo medicine. Not because of the drama. I watch for the raw and beautiful dynamic of Christina (Sandra Oh) and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo). Friendship should be measured on a scale from 0 to Mere-Christina.
This semester has been interesting. Busy. Dramatic. Evidence: I have not posted in months. I can divide the semester into five components: (1) medical school interviews, (2) laboratory work, (3) extracurriculars, (4) academics, and (5) Scandal. Like I said, this semester has been interesting and not just for me. ’14ers like myself have been flying from coast to coast for job interviews, medical school and law school interviews, and fellowship interviews. Gradual school interviews are just around the corner. It has been an exciting albeit stressful time.
This stress has led to some strain in personal relationships. Jealousy. Competition. Stress. Even some of my own friendships are casualties of the March toward the Future.
This is an exciting albeit stressful time. It has been wonderful to share the good news and the bad with (1) the friends from back home (Monroe), (2) the friends I’ve had since freshman year, (3) the friends I have made in the past six months, and (4) the friends (and this is quite the surprise) I have made at medical school interviews.
Change is coming. I’m a little nervous. Okay…a lot nervous, but I think I like where things are going.
Much love to my parents, my perfect siblings, and my dear friends: Emileigh, Katherine, Dorothy, Garrett, Rose, Jasmine, Neil, Shirlene, Atasha, and Connie. What would I do without you?
